Palworld launches official Trading Card Game this July

Bushiroad partnership brings Pal battles to tabletop format with July 30, 2026 release date

Pocketpair and Bushiroad announced today the launch of Palworld: Official Card Game, a collectible card game based on the hit survival and creature-collecting title.

The TCG will arrive on July 30, bringing the video game’s mechanics to physical card format with strategic battles, base building, and unique Pal deployment.

The game works as a competitive two-player system where each player deploys different Pals with unique abilities, gathers resources, and builds bases while aiming for victory.

According to Bushiroad’s official announcement, “Players fight alongside their Pal companions, gathering resources, and building bases as they aim for victory. These adorable and dependable Pals will utilize their own unique traits to lead you to triumph“.

The game’s mechanics aren’t limited to direct battles like other TCGs but integrate elements from the original video game: players must manage resources and build a board state that simulates a base, maintaining the essence of Pocketpair’s title.

Each Pal will have specific utility effects likely tied to their “work suitability” from the video game, adding an extra strategic layer.

Bushiroad brings genre experience

Bushiroad Corporation, the Japanese company behind this project, is known for producing successful collectible card games like Cardfight!! Vanguard.

The collaboration began taking shape in 2024 when Pocketpair and Animate subsidiary COS purchased shares in Bushiroad, signaling this TCG had been in the works for a while. The first booster pack along with two trial decks will arrive on July 30, 2026.

The official game site, en.palworld-official-cardgame.com, is already live showing previews of Pals like Lamball, Pengullet, Flopie, Grizzbolt, and Mimog. With almost 200 Pals available in the video game, the potential for expansions and deck types is massive.

This announcement comes amid the legal battle between Pocketpair and Nintendo/The Pokemon Company over alleged patent violations related to game mechanics.

Despite the controversy, Pocketpair hasn’t slowed its expansion: besides the TCG, the company recently announced Palworld: Palfarm, a spin-off that also generated comparisons to the Pokemon universe.

The TCG launch places Palworld directly in territory dominated by the Pokemon TCG for decades, a bold move considering the legal context.

Palworld launched in January 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, and PC via Steam in Early Access. The game will officially exit Early Access in 2026.
