If you’ve been waiting for any glimpse of the upcoming Legend of Zelda live-action movie, today’s your lucky day. Fresh footage has just leaked online showing what appears to be actual filming taking place in the forests of New Zealand, and fans are absolutely losing their minds.
The leaked videos, which surfaced on social media just moments ago, give us our first real look at the characters we’ve been dreaming about since Nintendo announced this project. And honestly? It’s surreal to see Hyrule coming to life.
What the leaks actually show
The footage captures what looks like a forest scene with multiple characters on horseback. The most striking detail? Those horses are decked out in what appears to be the royal Hyrulean saddles and gear—complete with the iconic blue and gold color scheme that any Zelda fan would recognize instantly.
In the first video, we get a glimpse of a woman in a flowing blue dress—likely Princess Zelda herself—interacting with another character who’s sporting white hair and a grey tunic, apparently could be Impa herself. The setting is lush, green, and absolutely screaming “Hyrule Forest.” There’s a whole crew visible, with horses and what looks like a pretty elaborate setup for what could be a key scene in the film.
The second leak is even more exciting. Someone managed to get close enough to the set to film what appears to be Link in his signature green tunic and brown belt, standing on a wooden bridge. There’s also a blonde woman with pointed ears wearing a blue dress—again, almost certainly Zelda—and the whole scene has this magical, otherworldly vibe that feels ripped straight from the games.
The person filming is literally whispering “Dude, we’re watching Legend of Zelda” while trying not to get caught, which honestly adds to the whole charm of these leaks.

The Hyrulean details
What’s really getting fans excited isn’t just seeing the characters, but the attention to detail. The royal horse gear, the costume designs, the forest setting—everything seems to be taking the source material seriously. This isn’t some half-baked adaptation; it looks like they’re actually trying to recreate the world we know and love.
The fact that they’re filming in New Zealand is also a smart move. Those forests have that mystical, untouched quality that’s perfect for bringing Hyrule to life. If these leaks are any indication, we’re in for something visually stunning when this thing finally hits theaters in 2027.
Of course, Nintendo hasn’t commented on these leaks yet, and they probably won’t be thrilled that footage escaped into the wild. But for fans who’ve been starving for any content from this movie, these brief glimpses are pure gold.
The Legend of Zelda movie is still a couple years away, but if these leaks prove anything, it’s that the production is well underway and taking shape in ways that should make longtime fans very, very happy.
