Mojang Studios and Xbox rolled out a Stranger Things DLC for Minecraft today, perfectly timed with the Netflix series finale dropping its last episode. The collaboration isn’t just a cosmetic cash-grab, it’s a full narrative experience letting players explore Hawkins, dive into the Upside Down, and relive iconic moments from the show’s first four seasons alongside friends.
The DLC landed on most platforms for 1510 Minecoins, though Nintendo Switch players are left waiting due to technical limitations the studio couldn’t work around in time.
What’s actually inside this DLC
This isn’t your typical skin pack situation. The Stranger Things DLC offers a story-driven adventure with challenges, secrets, and locations pulled straight from the series. Players can wander through Hawkins as it evolves across different seasons, hit up Starcourt Mall, sneak through the Russian lab beneath it, trek into Mirkwood Forest, and naturally, face off against threats in the Upside Down.

Combat plays a major role here. You’ll fight Demogorgons, deal with the Mind Flayer’s influence, and eventually confront Vecna himself. Each area throws unique challenges at you, designed for cooperative play where teaming up actually matters.
The character roster includes 49 skins, and several come with special abilities that tie into the show. Eleven uses telekinetic powers during fights, Dr. Brenner interacts with lab panels, Suzie cracks codes, Eddie runs D&D campaigns, and Vecna can control minds. It’s clear Mojang wanted these skins to feel functional, not just decorative.
As a bonus, everyone gets a free Hellfire Club shirt for the character creator.
Why Switch players are out of luck
Mojang addressed the Nintendo Switch absence directly in their announcement, and the explanation comes down to hardware:
“Our goal is to deliver a great DLC experience on all platforms. Because of this, we are currently unable to offer the Stranger Things DLC on the Nintendo Switch console. Additionally, 6GB of RAM or more is required on mobile devices. We will keep you updated on any developments.”

The statement hints the content might arrive later once optimizations are sorted, but nothing’s confirmed. Mobile players also need to check their device specs, anything under 6GB of RAM won’t run it.
The DLC launched across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and compatible mobile devices. For fans wanting to spend more time in Hawkins before saying goodbye to the series, this offers a decent way to do it in blocky form.
