Super Earth’s most chaotic holiday celebration just kicked off, and this year Arrowhead isn’t holding back. The Festival of Reckoning launched today with experimental stratagems that honestly shouldn’t exist but definitely should stay, plus the return of the Killzone crossover as a permanent Legendary Warbond.
Two weeks of weaponized democracy
The Ministry of Prosperity extended this year’s festival from the usual three days to a full two weeks, citing a “record-breaking volume of vengeance” that needs handling. Translation: you’ve got until December 31 to test some absolutely unhinged stratagem combinations that Arrowhead is clearly using to gauge what players want permanently added to the game.
The experimental tech includes a 120mm EMS barrage that stuns everything in the blast radius, a Gatling barrage loaded with incendiary rounds instead of standard ammunition, and an Orbital Walking Barrage with smoke projectiles. These aren’t available all at once—they’re rotating throughout the event alongside select Premium Warbond stratagems that normally cost Super Credits and Medals to unlock. You get a special fifth stratagem slot just for these holiday experiments, so there’s zero excuse not to try them out.
The Killzone gear returns for good
Alongside the festival, the Killzone crossover is back as a Legendary Warbond costing 1,500 Super Credits. If you bought any Killzone items last December before they disappeared, you get the entire Warbond free with everything you already owned automatically unlocked. New players or anyone who only grabbed the gifted items will need to pay full price, but at least it’s permanent this time.
The Warbond includes the StA-52 Assault Rifle, StA-11 SMG, PLAS-39 plasma weapon, two armor sets with the Acclimated passive (50% resistance to gas, acid, fire, and electrical damage), plus new Extrasolar Ash patterns for your Exosuits, Hellpods, and vehicles. The weapons aren’t exactly meta-defining, but that Acclimated armor passive is legitimately useful.
Major orders with economic consequences
The festival’s Major Order has a twist that feels very on-brand for Super Earth. Every net planetary gain across the two-week campaign translates to system-wide discounts for all Helldivers. Fall behind on liberations, and a “Patriotic VAT Surcharge” kicks in to cover your failures. Complete the order and everyone who participated gets 100 Medals. It’s capitalism wrapped in satire wrapped in explosions, exactly as intended.
The community’s already speculating that these experimental stratagems are Arrowhead’s way of testing customizable stratagem upgrades, something CEO Shams Jorjani said he was “100% for” last month. Whether these specific combinations stick around or inspire permanent additions remains to be seen, but the festival’s essentially a live beta test disguised as holiday chaos.
