Helldivers 2 drops Bastion Tank as update 6.0.0 kicks off assault on New Cyberstan

Democracy Gets an Upgrade: Arrowhead Unleashes the Bastion Tank and Close-Combat Chaos in Latest Major Update

Arrowhead Game Studios launched Helldivers 2 update 6.0.0 today marking one of the game’s most significant updates since launch.

The patch, which went live alongside the new Siegebreakers Premium Warbond, introduces the Bastion Tank and sets the stage for an all-out invasion of New Cyberstan, the Automaton Homeworld. This isn’t just another update, it’s Super Earth declaring war on the bots’ front door.

The Bastion Tank rolls into battle

The Bastion Tank is the headliner here, a hulking armored vehicle designed to crush entrenched enemies and break through Automaton defenses.

Super Earth has officially deployed it after the Automaton Collective stole the schematics for the Star of Peace project, forcing democracy’s hand. The tank isn’t locked behind a paywall either, it’s free for all players who can fork over 35,000 Requisition Slips through the Ship Management system.

Four Helldivers can crew the Bastion at once: one drives, another operates the cannon and machine gun, and two more can fire their primary weapons while riding along.

There’s no limit to how many times you can call it in during a mission, though it does have a 12-minute cooldown. It’s a game-changer for coordinated squads tackling heavily fortified bot planets, offering the raw firepower and durability needed to survive the chaos ahead.

Siegebreakers Warbond brings explosive firepower

The new Siegebreakers Premium Warbond dropped alongside the update, and it’s all about close-range devastation.

The standout is the CQC-20 Breaching Hammer, a Stratagem that lets you smash enemies up close or attach an explosive charge to the hammer’s head for maximum impact. If you prefer ranged chaos, the GL-28 Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher launches a relentless barrage of explosives, while the upgraded LAS-16 Trident laser shotgun now fires six beams instead of three, making it perfect for shredding Terminid swarms.

The Warbond costs 1,000 Super Credits to unlock and includes 19 items spread across three pages, requiring around 650-700 Medals to unlock everything.

You’ll find 300 Super Credits tucked into the rewards, effectively lowering the true cost to 700 Credits. Beyond weapons, the pack includes thematic cosmetics like the Rags of the Fashionable and Wedgeful Tricorn armor sets, plus the “Bunker Buster” player title and new emotes.

Higher difficulties just got deadlier

Arrowhead didn’t stop at new gear. Update 6.0.0 also cranks up the intensity on difficulty levels 9 and 10, with the biggest changes hitting the Automaton front.

Previously, enemy aim calculations weren’t always updating in crowded battles, making bots less accurate than intended. Now, Automatons track targets much more precisely without impacting performance, meaning they’ll hit harder and more often.

Enemy damage against Helldiver vehicles has also been rebalanced to account for large health pools like the Bastion Tank’s.

Attacks from Bile Titans, Chargers, rocket-firing Automatons, Hulk melee, and more have been adjusted, though regular Helldivers won’t notice a difference, only their vehicles will feel the heat. Terminids and the Illuminate saw smaller adjustments, but the Automaton difficulty spike is real.

Melee gets a major buff

If you’ve been sleeping on melee combat, now’s the time to reconsider. Base melee attacks received a 50% damage increase, and all melee weapons got buffed across the board.

Arrowhead tweaked armor passives that boost melee damage to make them useful without being mandatory, meaning you can brawl effectively without specific loadouts. It’s a smart move that opens up playstyles without forcing players into a single meta.

The update also made emotes and victory poses mostly interchangeable, added Chinese voiceover support, and squashed a mountain of bugs.

From fixing the Guard Dog’s sound effects to preventing over-eager Pelican pilots from double-extracting during Eradication missions, Arrowhead covered a lot of ground with this patch.

New Cyberstan: The final push

The Major Order tied to update 6.0.0 tasks Helldivers with marching toward New Cyberstan, the Automaton Homeworld, as part of the ongoing Into the Unjust campaign.

Arrowhead teased earlier that “a lot of Helldivers are going to die”, and now we know why. High Command has authorized Commando Operations on all Automaton-controlled planets, meaning the fight is escalating fast.

Whether the bots disappear after this campaign or come back harder remains to be seen, but for now, it’s time to spread managed democracy one explosion at a time.
