If you’ve been craving a farming sim that lets you escape the grind and actually relax, Starsand Island might be exactly what you need.
Developer Seed Sparkle Lab just confirmed the game hits Steam Early Access on February 11 at 9 AM PST (February 12 in Asia), and honestly, the amount of content they’re packing into this version is kind of ridiculous.
The game drops you on a gorgeous island called Starsand, a place known as “the star shining in the deep sea”, where you’re supposed to leave city stress behind and just vibe. We’re talking farming, fishing, raising animals, and hanging out with the locals.
The hook here is the relationship system: island residents actually remember your actions. Give someone their favorite gift and they’ll light up. Ghost them for a while and they’ll get moody. It’s that attention to detail that could set this apart from other cozy sims.
What’s actually in early access
Seed Sparkle Lab took feedback from their Steam Next Fest demo seriously, because the Early Access version is loaded. You’re getting a full seasonal system with spring, summer, fall, and winter, each with unique activities and visuals.
The farming side expanded massively, nearly 100 different crops to grow, plus a breeding system that lets you create custom flowers. There’s even a greenhouse so you can cultivate rare plants year-round.
The animal raising got a serious upgrade too. You can care for cows, alpacas, and over 10 other species, with more than 40 different variants showing unique colors and appearances.
Mid-game, you unlock automation tools and specialized equipment to streamline your farm operations. Fishing enthusiasts will find over 100 aquatic species, including legendary five-star “Fish Kings” like Pirarucu and King Stella Fish, plus fish traps for passive collecting.

Exploration got deeper with new weapons like the bow, which uses different arrow types with special effects for combat. Three new areas opened up, a beach, bamboo forest, and your own private island, alongside 12 camp sites and three powerful bosses in the Moonlit Forest.
You can deck out your home with over 300 furniture pieces and 100+ landscape objects across nine fully customizable locations.
The social side and customization
Fifteen island residents are available for deep relationships, plus four collaboration characters, all with fully voice-acted personal storylines in Chinese, Japanese, and English.
The character creator got a massive overhaul, you can now mix and match outfit parts, combine accessories freely, and customize hair color, eye color, and skin tone with precision. There are even rhythm game-style musical instrument mechanics and seasonal events tied to the new calendar system.

Getting around the island is surprisingly fun. Over 40 vehicles let you explore by land, water, and air, many with customizable parts like jet boosters or wheels. Recipe variety jumped to 50+ dishes, many with buff effects that actually help your gameplay.
The catch: No multiplayer yet
Here’s the thing though, multiplayer won’t be available during Early Access. Seed Sparkle Lab is targeting summer 2026 for the full release, which will add co-op play, dating systems, and additional features.
The Early Access version is also Steam-exclusive for now. PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait for that summer launch.

Pricing sits at $27.93 USD for the Standard Edition during Early Access (normally $39.90), which includes the base game plus a Chinese New Year furniture set. A Deluxe Edition runs $41.93 USD with extra outfits and furniture collections. Some players noticed regional pricing differences, particularly lower prices in China, which sparked minor complaints about fairness.
The game already hit over 500,000 wishlists on Steam, and Seed Sparkle Lab has been consistently communicative with backers throughout development. Even without multiplayer at launch, the sheer volume of single-player content suggests there’s plenty to keep you busy until the full version drops.
Starsand Island launches February 11 on Steam with full voice acting in three languages and enough farming, fishing, crafting, and relationship-building to scratch that cozy game itch hard.
