After nearly seven years of scientific breakthroughs and jaw-dropping discoveries, Dr. Stone is officially wrapping up its anime run this year.
TOHO animation confirmed in December that the final part of Dr. Stone: Science Future will premiere in April 2026, marking the end of one of the most unique shonen adventures in recent memory.
From Stone world to the moon
The journey began back in July 2019 when TMS Entertainment first brought Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi’s manga to life.
The premise was wild from the start: genius teenager Senku Ishigami wakes up 3,700 years after a mysterious light turns all of humanity into stone, and he decides to rebuild civilization from scratch using nothing but science and determination.
What started as a survival story evolved into something way bigger, a global adventure that’s now heading straight to space.
Dr. Stone: Science Future, the fourth and final season, kicked off in January 2025 and is being released in three split cours.
The first part aired from January to March 2025, the second from July to September 2025, and now the third and final part is set to drop this April.
This last chapter will tackle the ambitious Moon Mission arc, where Senku and his Kingdom of Science finally confront the mysterious Why-Man and uncover the truth behind the petrification that started everything.
The newly released trailer at Jump Festa ’26 gave fans a high-octane preview of what’s coming: rocket construction, emotional reunions, and the ultimate showdown that’s been building up since day one. It even introduced a new character named Sai who’ll appear in the final part.
A legacy written in science
The manga wrapped up back in March 2022 after a five-year run in Weekly Shonen Jump, spanning 232 chapters across 26 volumes.
By July 2025, it had over 19 million copies in circulation and won the 2019 Shogakukan Manga Award for the shonen category.
The story’s ending was satisfying, several years after convincing a Medusa parasite to help humanity, Senku and his team started working on their most ambitious project yet: a time machine to prevent the loss of lives they couldn’t save.
The anime has stayed faithful to that vision across its run. Crunchyroll has been streaming it worldwide, bringing Senku’s “10 billion percent” confident catchphrase and his crew’s wild experiments to millions of fans globally.
What made Dr. Stone stand out wasn’t just the science, it was how the series made learning genuinely exciting, turning chemistry lessons and engineering challenges into edge-of-your-seat entertainment.
