Capcom’s next survival horror remake keeps building momentum. Insider NateTheHate just confirmed Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake is deep in development and could hit stores in the first half of 2027, following the company’s typical launch strategy.
With Resident Evil Requiem dropping in just a month, the rumor mill hasn’t stopped churning about what’s next for the franchise.
Code Veronica Remake has been the subject of whispers for years, but now things are getting concrete. On X, a user asked NateTheHate if the various rumors floating around were legit.
His response? A simple “Yes.” He added that Code Veronica is being remade, has been in development for a while, and Capcom is eyeing a release before July 2027, as shared by The Gamer.

From “maybe” to reality
Let’s rewind a bit. Back in October 2022, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of Resident Evil 4 Remake, said there were no plans to remake Code Veronica, though he left the door cracked open with a “maybe if the opportunity arises.”
Fast forward to December 2023, a few months after RE4 Remake’s success, and director Yasuhiro Anpo confirmed Capcom wanted to create more reimagined versions of classic survival horror entries.
Then in May 2024, veteran leaker Dusk Golem dropped a bomb: Capcom was working on both Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake and Resident Evil 0 Remake. IGN USA verified that same month.
Dusk Golem followed up late last year claiming Code Veronica Remake would be announced in 2026 and launch in 2027, while RE0 Remake wouldn’t arrive until 2028. He didn’t specify whether both would be announced together or separately.
Celebrating 30 years of terror
This year marks Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary, so Capcom might be planning something massive to celebrate three decades of scares.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, there’s Resident Evil Requiem launching February 27 on PC, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles to keep us busy.
The pattern is clear: Capcom knows the remake formula works, and Code Veronica’s haunting story of Claire Redfield and the twisted Ashford family deserves the modern treatment. If these leaks hold true, 2027 is shaping up to be another terrifying year for Resident Evil fans.
