The cast for Martin Scorsese’s next psychological thriller just got significantly more interesting. According to recent reports, Mikkelsen is likely being eyed for the role of a mysterious businessman, one of several enigmatic figures the main characters encounter at the eerie Borgarfjaroasysla Grand Imperial Hotel. The character is described as “debauched” and of Scandinavian origin, which feels like perfect casting for an actor who’s made a career out of playing morally complex characters with unsettling charisma.

This project marks Scorsese’s return to pure genre territory for the first time since “Shutter Island” back in 2010.
