The isekai genre just got another bizarre entry, and honestly, we’re here for it. An anime adaptation of the light novel Megami “Isekai Tensei Nani ni Naritai Desu ka” Ore “Yūsha no Rokkotsu de” (which translates to Goddess: “What Do You Want to Turn Into When You’re Reincarnated in Another World?” Me: “Into a Hero’s Rib”) was announced today and it’s set to premiere this April.
Written by Antai, this fantasy story takes the whole reincarnation concept and flips it completely. The premise? In this alternate world, you get to choose what form you reincarnate into when you die.
Sounds cool, right? Well, here’s the catch: popular options like “demon king” or “hero with special abilities in a harem” have wait lists stretching fifty thousand years.
Yeah, you read that right. So our protagonist, simply known as “I,” makes what might be the most unconventional choice in isekai history, reincarnating as a hero’s rib. Not the hero himself. His rib. It’s absurd, it’s creative, and it’s exactly the kind of weird premise that makes you go “okay, I need to see where this goes.”

The team behind the madness
The anime’s being produced by studios Qzil.la and S.o.K, with direction by Yasufumi Soejima, who previously worked on Ensemble Stars!.
Series composition is handled by Zipper Sōjō, while character design comes from Kōpo and Kagiji Kumanomata, the duo behind Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle.
That last credit alone tells you this show isn’t taking itself too seriously, which is probably the best approach for a story about someone becoming a body part.

What makes this stand out
In a season absolutely packed with isekai returns, Re:Zero Season 4, Mushoku Tensei Season 3, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4m new entries need something special to grab attention.
“Into a Hero’s Rib” leans hard into comedy and absurdism, which could be exactly what fans need after all the heavy drama and power fantasy shows dominating the genre lately.
The premise alone is meme-worthy, and if the execution matches the creative concept, this could become one of those cult favorites people won’t stop talking about.
There’s no trailer yet and staff details are still rolling out, but the promotional image released today shows the quirky aesthetic we can expect.
April 2026 is shaping up to be absolutely stacked for anime fans, and this one’s definitely going on the watchlist just for the sheer audacity of the concept.
