Helldivers 2 has officially crossed the 20 million copies sold mark across all platforms, according to fresh data from Alinea Analytics dropped this week.
The co-op shooter that took everyone by surprise back in February 2024 keeps proving it’s not just a flash in the pan, it’s a genuine phenomenon that refuses to slow down.
PC dominates the player count
Here’s where things get interesting: over 13 million of those players are on Steam, making PC the undisputed king of platforms for this game.
PlayStation 5 contributed around 5.6 million units to the total, while the Xbox Series X/S version, which launched way later in August 2025, has already moved approximately 1.4 million copies. That’s some serious traction for a late arrival to the party.

The numbers paint a clear picture of where Helldivers 2 found its true home. The game has generated over $700 million in gross revenue from copies sold alone, and that’s not even counting microtransactions from Super Credits.
The United States leads the charge with 40% of the player base, but China comes in as a surprising runner-up with 10% of players calling that region home.
A live-service success story
What makes these numbers even more impressive is the game’s staying power. Alinea reports 3.6 million monthly active users across Steam, PS5, and Xbox, and get this, over 250,000 gamers have logged more than 500 hours in the game.
That’s not just people buying it and moving on; that’s a dedicated community that keeps coming back for more democracy-spreading action.
Arrowhead Game Studios has been relentless with updates, Premium Warbonds, and community events that keep the experience fresh.
The Redacted Regiment Warbond just dropped on January 20th with stealth-focused gear, and the upcoming Siege Breakers Warbond is set to launch February 3rd with defensive tools and an explosive sledgehammer that honestly sounds ridiculous in the best way possible.

The studio’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, recently teased that the next major update will see “a lot of Helldivers die,” which has the community buzzing about what brutal new threats are coming.
There’s also talk of expanded vehicle gameplay and customizable Stratagems down the line, though nothing’s been officially confirmed yet.
Helldivers 2 isn’t just PlayStation’s best-selling game on Steam, it’s become one of the biggest wins in gaming this generation.
The game’s success even inspired other developers, with Arc Raiders switching from free-to-play to premium after seeing how well Arrowhead’s model worked.
Nearly two years after launch, this co-op shooter continues to prove that when you nail the formula and keep supporting your game, players stick around.
