Netflix drops first look at Captain Smoker in ONE PIECE Season 2

If you’ve been waiting to see how Netflix would bring one of the Marines’ most intimidating officers to life, your patience just paid off. The streaming giant has finally given fans what they’ve been craving: an official first look at Captain Smoker in all his cigar-chomping, justice-dispensing glory.

The clip, which dropped on X via the official One Piece account, came with a caption that perfectly captures the character’s vibe: “From the haze of Loguetown’s docks, justice rolls in! Captain Smoker has arrived!” And honestly? The hype is real.

Rolling In like he owns the place

The footage wastes no time establishing Smoker’s presence. We see Callum Kerr’s version of the character emerging from the fog on his iconic Billower Bike, and it’s immediately clear that the casting team nailed it. Draped in that unmistakable Marine coat and casually puffing on not one but two cigars, Kerr looks like he stepped straight out of Eiichiro Oda’s panels. The attention to detail is impressive, and fans are already buzzing about how faithful the adaptation looks.

But Smoker doesn’t arrive alone. Eagle-eyed viewers also caught a glimpse of his loyal right-hand officer, Tashigi, portrayed by Julia Rehwald. She’s standing right there beside him, ready to uphold justice alongside her captain. It’s a brief moment, but it’s enough to get fans excited about the dynamic between these two characters.

Kerr’s been ready for this role

Back in June 2024, Callum Kerr couldn’t contain his excitement when the casting news became official. He took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm with fans: “Been waiting to share this one…. Excited and thankful to be joining @onepiecenetflix as Smoker. All that cigar smoking practice is finally coming in handy 😉 Let’s go!!”

You’ve got to love an actor who commits to the bit. And judging by this first look, all that practice definitely paid off.

What’s coming in Season 2

The Straw Hat crew is back, and they’re heading straight into the Grand Line – that treacherous, unpredictable stretch of ocean where the real adventure begins. According to the official synopsis, “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”

And trust us, Smoker definitely qualifies as formidable.

The core cast is returning for round two, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, Mikaela Hoover, and Charithra Chandran. With production values reportedly even higher this time around and Oda himself keeping a close eye on the creative direction, expectations are through the roof.

The stakes just got higher

When the first season dropped in 2023, it did something many thought impossible: it actually worked. The live-action adaptation won over skeptics and die-hard fans alike, proving that One Piece could translate to a different medium without losing its soul. Netflix clearly saw the potential, because they’ve already greenlit Season 3 before Season 2 even airs.

Now, with the Marines officially entering the picture through Smoker’s arrival in Loguetown, the stakes are climbing. The Straw Hats aren’t just dealing with rival pirates anymore – they’ve got the full force of Marine justice on their tail.

Mark your calendars: One Piece Season 2 sets sail on Netflix on March 10, 2026. And if this Smoker clip is any indication, we’re in for one hell of a ride on the Grand Line.
