Helldivers 2 Exo Experts Warbond arrives April 28 with new gear

Helldivers 2 Exo Experts Warbond brings two new Exosuits, fresh weapons, armor sets, and cosmetics on April 28

Arrowhead Games Studio announced today the details of the latest Warbond coming to Helldivers 2, titled The Exo Experts, which launches April 28. The new Warbond centers entirely around Exosuit combat, bringing two brand new mechs to the battlefield alongside a fresh set of weapons, armor sets, capes, and cosmetics designed to outfit any Helldiver who prefers to wage war from inside a metal giant rather than on foot.

The Ministry of Defense has officially authorized the immediate mobilization of these new Exosuits to support the ongoing fight against the enemies of Managed Democracy, and based on what’s been revealed, this is one of the more content-heavy Warbonds the game has seen in a while.

The theme running through the entire Warbond is simple: machines are tools, and when you need to fight fire with fire, you’d better know how to use them. That framing sets the tone for everything included in The Exo Experts, from the massive armored suits down to the smallest sidearm in the package.

Two new Exosuits built for different kinds of destruction

The centerpiece of this Warbond is, without question, the two new Exosuits, and each one fills a completely different role on the battlefield. The first is the EXO-51 Lumberer, described as a modern reinvention of the Lumberers from the first Galactic War.

This mech comes armed with an anti-tank cannon and a flamethrower, which means it handles both heavily armored targets and smaller, swarming enemies in one loadout. The anti-tank cannon deals with the big threats while the flamethrower takes care of everything else that gets too close, making the EXO-51 an aggressive, forward-pushing machine that rewards players who like to stay in the middle of the fight rather than hanging back.

The second Exosuit is the EXO-55 Breakthrough, which takes a more defensive approach to the same frontline philosophy. Instead of a flamethrower, the EXO-55 pairs a flak cannon with a ballistics shield, letting the pilot absorb punishment while continuing to dish out heavy fire.

It’s a loadout built for sustained engagements, for those moments when retreating isn’t an option and you need to hold a position against whatever Super Earth’s enemies decide to throw at you. Both mechs together cover a wide range of combat scenarios, and having the option to choose between them depending on the mission type adds a meaningful layer of strategic planning before even dropping into a match.

Superior firepower, approved by Super Earth for immediate deployment

Beyond the Exosuits, The Exo Experts Warbond introduces a full set of new weapons that complement the mech-focused theme while also offering useful options for Helldivers who spend time on foot.

The MGX-42 Bullet Storm is probably the most interesting of the bunch, it’s a disposable machine gun with caseless ammunition spread across multiple barrels, and each usage comes with two of them so players can throw them away once they’re empty and move on. There’s a very specific kind of confidence that comes with using a weapon you were always planning to discard, and the MGX-42 leans into that completely.

For more conventional infantry play, the SMG-203 Gallant arrives as the older sibling of the MP-98 Knight, trading clip size for increased penetration while maintaining a high rate of fire. It’s a tradeoff that suits aggressive players who keep moving and can manage their ammunition efficiently rather than relying on volume alone.

Then there’s the P-33 Missile Pistol, a sidearm that uses guided, heat-propelled rounds and features a lock-on system. According to the Ministry of Defense, it is proven to hit its target 60% of the time, every time, which, to be fair, is a reasonably compelling argument for carrying a guided missile in your holster.

Armor, capes, and cosmetics that sell the fantasy

The Exo Experts Warbond brings two new armor sets designed to match the Exosuit operator identity the Warbond is building. The O-2 Heavy Operator is the state-mandated uniform for Super Earth citizens who work with heavy machinery, and it pairs with the Watchful Compatriot cape, which features a retro print that was first made popular during GW1 cereal merchandising.

The lore detail is exactly the kind of absurdist worldbuilding Helldivers 2 does so well, a battlefield cape that traces its origins back to breakfast cereal packaging is exactly the kind of thing that makes Super Earth feel like a living, breathing, deeply unhinged society.

The second armor set is the O-3 Free Spirit, which comes equipped with SteerComfort technology that allows the wearer to feel every movement of their Exosuit as if the mech and the pilot were becoming a single entity. It pairs with the Free Spirited Spangles cape, which pays tribute to the mavericks and trailblazers who carry out their orders with a particular kind of endearing flair.

Both armor sets share the Oxygenator perk as their base passive, which allows the wearer to walk, run, and slide slightly faster, all within Super Earth Health and Safety guidelines, naturally.

On the cosmetic side, the Warbond also includes the Exosuit Certified player title, the Thumb of Approval emote, a matching victory pose, and the Mobile White weapon patterns.

None of these change how the game plays, but they do give players the tools to build a complete visual identity around the Exo Expert fantasy, which for a lot of Helldivers is half the fun of a new Warbond drop.

The Exo Experts goes live on April 28 and requires the base game, Super Credits, and game progression to unlock its contents. For players who have been waiting for a Warbond that leans fully into the mech side of Helldivers 2’s combat, this one looks like the right answer at the right time.

Two distinct Exosuits with different tactical purposes, a throwaway machine gun, a missile sidearm with a lock-on system, and enough Super Earth flavor text to make it all feel like it belongs together, it’s a focused, well-themed drop that knows exactly what it wants to be.
