Togenashi Togeari’s journey from screen to page kicks off January 30 with a brand-new manga adaptation that’s completely separate from the webtoon project announced earlier.
The official Girls Band Cry website dropped the news this Friday, confirming that artist Iseebi Boil will bring the band’s story to life through weekly chapters on Comic Ride and RaiComi.
Iseebi Boil, who illustrated The Revenge of My Youth: Re Life with an Angelic Girl, takes on the art duties for this serialization. New chapters drop every Friday, giving fans a steady dose of the rock-driven narrative that made the anime a standout in 2024.
A separate project from the webtoon
This manga stands completely apart from the vertical-scrolling webtoon adaptation that Korean company A.Tempo Media is producing. While both projects expand the Girls Band Cry universe, they’re distinct ventures with different creative teams and formats.
Comic Ride typically releases new issues on the 30th of each month, so the manga’s debut aligns perfectly with the magazine’s schedule.
The Girls Band Cry phenomenon keeps growing
The original Toei Animation series premiered in April 2024 with 13 episodes, following a high school dropout who moves to Tokyo, finds work, and connects with other outcasts through rock music.
The raw, grounded approach to its characters and the struggles of finding your place resonated hard with audiences, turning the show into something bigger than anyone expected.
The franchise isn’t slowing down. Two compilation films, Seishun Kyosokyoku and Naa, Mirai., hit theaters in October and November respectively.
A completely original anime film is currently in production, separate from the recaps. On the gaming front, Girls Band Cry First Riff is in development, while the casual PC game Momoka (o) Wasshoi launched on Steam last September.
Between the manga, webtoon, films, and games, Girls Band Cry is becoming a full multimedia juggernaut. The band’s expansion across formats proves the story’s reach goes beyond the 13-episode run that started it all.
