The verdict? It’s alive, kicking, and moving forward.
The confirmation came straight from Aquaria, combat and gameplay design manager at HoYoverse, who tackled fan concerns with a laid-back yet firm approach during the panel. “I guess I’ll have to be the one leaking info today… Truth is, we’ve been working on it. There haven’t been any accidents or uncertainties, haha. We’ve been making steady progress on the project,” she stated, shutting down the noise that had been flooding social media for weeks.
Aquaria broke down how the team operates, explaining they plan content, both in-game and external expansions like this anime, months or even a full year ahead.
According to her, both fronts are advancing simultaneously within the company’s workflow, meaning the anime isn’t being sidelined while new regions and events drop in the game.
The Ufotable partnership stands strong
Originally announced back in September 2022 as a “long-term” collaboration with legendary studio Ufotable (the powerhouse behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Fate/stay night), the project had fans on edge due to prolonged radio silence and Ufotable’s stacked schedule with their own film franchises.
But this statement confirms the partnership is rock solid and moving forward as planned.
While no release window was announced, industry insiders estimate that given the production scale and Ufotable’s obsessive attention to quality, we’re looking at a 2027 launch at the earliest, possibly later.
The wait might sting, but if it means getting that signature Ufotable animation treatment with Teyvat’s world and characters, it’ll be worth every second.
