First look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the live-action ‘TOMB RAIDER’ series

Amazon MGM Studios officially unveiled the full cast for its upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, confirming Sophie Turner will bring Lara Croft to life alongside heavy-hitters like Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs.
The series, developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge as creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner alongside Chad Hodge, promises to exist within the same universe as the video games, something fans have been craving for years.
The series respects canon while reinventing the legend
Unlike typical video game adaptations that take creative liberties, this Tomb Raider series is taking a different approach. Story Kitchen, the production company behind the project, confirmed the show will reinvent the franchise on a massive scale while directly connecting to the games’ narrative universe.
Crystal Dynamics has spent years building a unified timeline with titles like Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and this series continues that mission.
Netflix’s animated series The Legend of Lara Croft already started this narrative cohesion, and the Amazon production aims to tighten those connections even further. The franchise, which launched in 1996 on PlayStation, is finally getting the interconnected universe treatment fans deserve.
Sophie Turner herself expressed genuine excitement, saying “I’ve been a fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara for a long time. I’ve always felt empathy for her, with so much courage in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce role model of femininity!“.
Who’s joining Lara on this adventure?
The cast announcement revealed both returning franchise characters and mysterious new faces. Martin Bobb-Semple plays Zip, Lara’s friend, while Jason Isaacs takes on Atlas DeMornay, her uncle. Bill Paterson appears as Winston, the Croft family butler, and Jack Bannon plays Gerry, Lara’s personal pilot.
Sigourney Weaver’s casting as Evelyn Wallis stands out, described as “a mysterious, high-flying woman eager to exploit Lara’s talents,” she sounds like trouble with a capital T. The ensemble rounds out with Sasha Luss as Sasha, a new adversary; Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, a high-ranking government official; John Heffernan as David, another government functionary; Celia Imrie as Francine, Head of Development at the British Museum; Juliette Motamed as Georgia, a dedicated British Museum curator; and August Wittgenstein as Lukas, a mercenary with history tied to our heroine.
With production moving forward and this stacked cast confirmed, Lara Croft’s return to screens is shaping up to be the adventure fans have waited decades for.
